Dan Thies on Google AdWords - forget EVERYTHING you know!

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

I’m most of the way through Stompernet’s latest video, the first of their Going Natural 3.0 series and blown away. Presenting the story of how Brad Fallon’s multi-million dollar business was blown away when it was dropped from Google’s organic listings and how Dan Thies headed up new research into AdWords to save that business from certain catastrophe, this is a really fresh look at how the AdWords game has changed and what to do in 2008.

One of the tools mentioned - in fact the only tool so far - is Microsoft’s Commercial Intent tool, which has yielded some surprising tools for one of my niches.

In fact, I’m going to see what happens if I use it to screen keywords in the Thirty Day Challenge/Immediate Edge niche research stage, as it may help identify really strong keywords that are off the radar at the moment. (more…)

Amazing tools from Immediate Edge

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

This weekend Dan Raine and Ed Dale have announced some amazing new tools for members of the 30 Day Challenge, which I would urge you to join if you are remotely interested in online marketing - and it’s completely FREE. The tools, which have been a few months coming, are designed to cut out the tedium of social bookmarking by doing it all for you automatically and will save a ton of time.

At the same time they made an enhanced version available to members of Immediate Edge and another great reason to join.

All in all 2008 is a great time to be an internet marketer - I’ll see you inside the 30 Day Challenge or Immediate Edge.

How to stop YOUR video content being ripped off

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

I’m not sure if it was during Ed Dale’s video course on Immediate Edge, but some time ago I published video on YouTube for one of my niches.

I was a bit pissed of a couple of weeks later when I found that someone had taken my video, removed my website address from the end and added their own. I asked them to remove the video and reported it to YouTube.

This is his reply:

I’ve removed the video. I hereby apologize for my actions. No hard feelings buddy?

Let me know if everything’s good now.

God Bless,
Kelvin

God Bless? Are you kidding me you scumbag? Everything is NOT good and I do have hard feelings. Ripping off other people’s content is not good.

OK, now I have that out of the way, I’ll tell you the moral of the story:

Always include your branding on every frame of video you submit.

Latest at the Immediate Edge

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Dan Raine and Ed Dale have been busy lately with the Immediate Edge, their $97/month coaching program. After a pause in Ed’s video series we’ve had a ton of new content focusing on tactics, including the usual newsletter. There has been a slow down in info on 2 specific strategies, which is a pity though, but I guess it’ll come soon. Also, we get to watch over their shoulders as the 2008 30 Day Challenge is prepared for launch, providing a great basis for a viral campaign.

Although Immediate Edge isn’t for everyone, it makes a refreshing change for an internet marketing program to be non-US based, which gives a slightly different perspective on things. If you’re serious at improving your internet marketing skills, at least take a look at Immediate Edge, and with a money back guarantee you can’t lose out if you decide it’s not for you after a couple of weeks.

How to use an A/B split test to make your online marketing work

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

One of the absolute keys to online marketing success is to run tests, and at its most basic level this is the A/B split test. The way it works is simply to compare the response to a known standard - split A - with a different version of some marketing material, whether it is a web page, a email or Adwords advert - split B. Typically it can be used to test different headlines, copy or call to action and by making gradual improvements, big overall improvements can be made. In fact if you have followed any course on Adwords you will be familiar with the idea of testing one version of an ad against another.Your credit score in

Internet marketing: do this right and make a killing online

Monday, March 17th, 2008

While much of the internet marketing process consists of technical know how, that is the easy bit. Setting up a website is simple, writing content requires work, but that too is a straightforward process. Even if you don’t know much about the subject you are writing about it, the internet makes it easy to research and if you do know about the subject then it is a breeze.

And with so many affiliate programs for just about every conceivable product you don’t even have to do any packing, shipping or customer service. If that is the case what is so difficult about internet marketing? (more…)

How to do video right on the internet

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

Ed Dale has started a new series on how how to do video which I’d really advise you to take a look at and although I’m not an Apple fanboy like Ed, the new Mac software he’s using does look amazing. I don’t have a YouTube video for you to watch as this has been shot in super high quality and looks great, so take a look at the link above - you can be sure that this is how the Thirty Day Challenge 2008 is going to look.

The complete course is available to Immediate Edge members, which I thoroughly recommend for the cutting edge content from Ed and Dan Raine - anything else is a compromise.

New podcast from Ed Dale

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

Ed Dale has a new podcast on the Thirty Day Challenge, which as always is worth a listen too. I’m just back from the gym where I was listening to Ed’s dulcet tones :-)

Some good advice as usual - he talks about how increasing your typing speed to improve productivity, and I certainly find that sometimes I can just brain dump a load of stuff while typing at around 300 mph and it is great. The problem for me is getting into the frame of mind for the brain dump though, so although he’s right, that isn’t the whole story.

He also talks about scribd, which I think I’ll avoid talking about from now on as I think I’ve been crossed off Andy Jenkin’s Christmas card list for good, not to mention probably closing for good any opportunity to join Stompernet in the future. C’est la vie.

However, there was mention about Gtrends not working any more. I certainly found it don’t work yesterday, and when I went to Google trends it didn’t seem to work for some terms but worked for others. As of now Gtrends, Gtrends 2.0 and Google trends all seem to be working, so I think that was a false alarm.

The Thirty Day Challenge website is down at the moment, but when it’s working again you can download the podcast here.

Ken McCarthy’s System Seminar

Monday, January 28th, 2008

Although I’ve never been to the System Seminar I have been meaning to for a few years, but feel pretty disinclined these days as it would mean a flight to London and all the security hassle that involves followed by a flight to Chicago and all the security and immigration hassle there too. In short, I just can’t be bothered with the stress.

However, Ken does put out a load of great content prior to the seminar every year in the form of interview podcasts with the faculty and this year is no exception. He’s posted an his first interview with Robert Middleton which you can download from Ken’s blog.

Always great to listen to at the gym.
