StomperNet SIMPLE flies again… and then hits turbulance

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

Well after writing my glowing endorsement of Immediate Edge I was now going to tell you how StomperNet seem to be getting their act together.

It was going to be pure praise, but I’ve just found something to grumble about; after being told to sign up to aweber in May, we were never told a what to do with it. Now we’re being told to sign up with 1AutomationWiz instead because it’s much better.

Stompernet SIMPLE says aweber

StomperNet SIMPLE stage B

Stompernet says 1AutomationWiz

StomperNet SIMPLE stage D

It doesn’t affect me because I’m with aweber anyway, but couldn’t someone have sorted this slightly better? It would be good if they now show us how to set up aweber to do all that is promised…

Anyway onto the positives. First of all we have some new video content, which although it is late is good to watch. Second, the whole of StomperNet is being revamped so that you get credits to watch so much video content and will be able to purchase additional credits. To date SIMPLE members (that’s $97/month instead of $797) have been able to watch the first 10 minutes of a lot of the content, which gives you a taster…

Anyway, it should mean that we’ll be able to access some of the content for full StomperNet for an additional fee, which is ok in my eyes and suddenly makes it more attractive than it has been for 2 or 3 months.

Sort out the aweber/1AutomationWiz issue and you’re on your way to turning SIMPLE into a worthwhile product.

UPDATE:

The more I think about this the more it pisses me off. There is a link for a special StomperNet deal with 1AutomationWiz of course and like much of the content from StomperNet it makes me think how much they earn off the back of these promotions.

SEO talk at Restaurante Namaste, Barcelona

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

Just back from eating a great Indian chicken curry recipe at Restaurante Namaste in Barcelona with Dan. Almost went to the wrong restaurant as there are 2 of the same name and only one shows up in Google, but we talked to the owner at the end about his website which turns out not to be indexed. Stage D of StomperNet SIMPLE is here!

Monday, October 1st, 2007

A few hours ago I was bitching about Stompernet, but to keep the balance I now have to say that I’ve received an email to say that the long awaited stage D of SIMPLE has now launched.

The clock is ticking for StomperNet

Monday, October 1st, 2007

I’ve received a few emails lately from StomperNet about how this next year is going to be so great blah blah blah, tons of ideas, great faculty blah blah blah.

Unfortunately I will never ever sign up for StomperNet because  of my experiences with StomperNet SIMPLE. We were promised new content in August, but we’re still waiting. The stuff we were supposed to get in September also failed to materialize.

I’m paying $97/month for this - it’s not going to break the bank, but constant over promising and under delivery is not the way to go if you want to hold on to any kind of reputation and I’d rather spend that money on something useful. I’ll see if there is any improvement in October, but after that I’m out of it.

The people they have on board couldn’t be better, but why are they going out of their way to piss customers off?

SEO and beer at Belly

Friday, September 14th, 2007

Last night I finally met Dan, one of the original members of my StomperNet SIMPLE team who also lives in Barcelona.

We should have met before, but I was hyper busy before the summer and cancelled a couple of times, so was glad to finally meet at Belly for the monthly Barcelona entrepeneur’s group networking meetup. Over a few beers we had a good chat about SEO and internet marketing, including StomperNet SIMPLE, the 30 Day Challenge and Immediate Edge. It’s always good to find someone who speaks the same language as you (I don’t mean English, I mean SEO) so I hope we can meet up a bit more often than once every 4 or 5 months.

Chicken curry anyone? :-)

StomperNet SIMPLE vs The 30 Day Challenge

Thursday, September 13th, 2007

Back from London and I’ve had a bit of a chance to recover by diving into the 30 Day Challenge like mad. I’m now going through day 27, so made some progress over the last few days. In fact there aren’t too many action points, most of it is listening/watching the podcasts/videos and so it has been relatively easy to steam ahead. (more…)

Where has everybody gone?

Monday, July 16th, 2007

It’s a few days since I last wrote about StomperNet SIMPLE and I wasn’t exactly happy about it but I’ve now had the chance to hear the conversation between Ed Dale and Leslie Rohde, which was good as always. (more…)

Stompernet SIMPLE drops the 40 day bombshell

Saturday, July 7th, 2007

So we got up to day 40 of Stompernet SIMPLE yesterday and once again they dropped a bombshell. For our $97/month SIMPLE will continue with a WEEKLY update rather than the daily action item we’ve been used to.

Some of SIMPLE has been great. Some of it has been absolutely dire - never in the faculty itself but usually in the way things are communicated. (more…)

Stompernet SIMPLE keeps getting better

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

Just another update on Stompernet’s SIMPLE course for all those who are interested. Although I laid into it last week some time, I’ve been perfectly happy with what we’ve done since. This week we’ve gone through some really specialist stuff in Google Analytics and added some A/B split testing code to our sites.

Now, I’ve done split testing and Taguchi tests in the past, but the way that this has been set up is really good. I love it; really love it.

A lot of what SIMPLE has done in the past wasn’t new to me at all, but I’ve never minded that because a) it was aimed at the complete ecommerce novice and b) it never does any harm to go over what you already know.

Now I’m really getting some hardcore learning; I’ve been using Analytics since the day it was offered free but never imagined some of the power of it, lying wasted by most of us.

This info is absolutely top - some of the earlier stuff in the course needs cleaning up a bit, but what we’re doing now is way out there.

Keep it coming and you’ll keep me very happy indeed.

EDIT - can you believe that WordPress’s spellcheck doesn’t recognise “Google”!
