Google update - July 2007
Google seems to be going through some kind of algo change with reports pages dropping in the SERPS. Squidoo lenses seem to have been particularly hard hit over the weekend; I wrote a new lens last week which was on the first page on Saturday. It was still there this morning but has now disappeared, just as it brought in a sale.
In the immortal words of Douglas Adams;Â don’t panic.

Just a note to say that my Squidoo lens is back in the top 10 again - I did nothing to it. We’ll see how permanent that is though.

Hi Ambrish,
Google are constantly changing their algorithm, but sometimes that make bigger tweaks that affect a greater number of websites. The evidence is that Google has made such an adjustment that affects Squidoo lenses and so those pages have all dropped in the rankings.

Hi Ambrish,
It’s coincidence - Google doesn’t have any special dates that it updates on; it’s algorithm constantly changes and sometimes it introduces bigger changes that have a more dramatic effect. There’s nothing you can do about it apart from keep on at what you’re doing and listen to any specific advice from people who know what they’re talking about (stay away from SEO forums, they’re a waste of time).
