Testing Immediate Edge method to boost email sign ups
One of the things I’m trying from Immediate Edge is a method that is supposed to boost email sign ups. I’m testing the method (I won’t reveal what it is - you should have joined Immediate Edge) on a website that for me is part fun and part SEO/internet marketing test bed with a miserable sign up rate of just 1 percent.
In fact the code as provided by Immediate Edge didn’t work, so I wrote some code to achieve the same thing at the weekend and finished off this afternoon. I’m split testing this method with what I had before and the early results are interesting; every sign up since I made the code live are from this method.
Once I have some worthwhile data I’ll post the results.
Update: October 4th
I messed it up to start with and so reset my stats yesterday. Initial results from less than 24 hours are:
Immediate Edge method: 4.3%
Without Edge method: 2.4%
Aweber generated form: 1.5% (as used previously, 1% long term)
The 3 different forms are being rotated evenly and it is very early days, however the Immediate Edge method has taken the lead - it’ll be interesting to return to this after more significant numbers.

OK, I’ve had the split test running for a few days now and the results are now as follows:
Immediate Edge method: 3.7%
Without Edge method: 1.5%
Aweber generated form: 1.0% (bang on its long term average)
I’ve now switched off the Aweber form (maybe I never tested the Aweber generated form against my own, which looks like it was a mistake) and will move to a new split test as soon as I get a bit of time.

I’ve been testing a new split test using the Edge method with a slight refinement also from Immediate Edge. The results are unbelievable compared with my long term rate of 1%:
Immediate Edge method: 4.4%
Immediate Edge + refinement: 4.9%
Now my list is really starting to grow - it’s more than 4 times the number of signups!
